Deepnest not working? Check the job and try an alternative
If a Deepnest job stalls, first separate a file-import problem from a long nesting run. These checks help you identify the cause and try the same contours in NestForge.
Find where the job stops
- Keep the original drawing and save a copy for testing.
- Import one simple closed rectangle with a known size. If that fails, check your application version and import path.
- Add a few real parts. If one outline triggers the problem, inspect its closure, dimensions and duplicate geometry in the drawing.
- If smaller jobs work, compare the complete job with the same quantities and rotation rules in another nester.
Check the maintained Deepnest-next project
The Deepnest-next repository has current release and installation information. Its desktop workflow, DXF conversion and common-line merging may suit your cutting process.
Try the same parts in NestForge
Import the SVG or text DXF, set the stock size and quantities, and start with Draft effort. The status display shows the current phase, counters and elapsed time. Where available, Stop — keep best result finishes the current step and checks the best layout; Cancel discards the current run immediately.
For a support question, download the diagnostic JSON report after the run. It records versions, counts and processing phases, without part names, geometry or license data.
Use a known example to check the setup
Open the eight-part acrylic project to try the complete free workflow, including export. Then repeat with your own outlines and open the result in your cutting software.
