Blank SVG import: check paths, styles and the viewBox

An SVG can display in a browser while relying on images, styles or effects that a cutting importer does not support. Check the objects as well as their appearance.

Check whether the artwork contains usable paths

A bitmap embedded in SVG is still a bitmap. Text may depend on a font, and clipping or masking can hide geometry without trimming its underlying path. In a copy, inspect the objects in a vector editor and prepare the actual outlines needed for cutting. Preserve an editable original before converting text or simplifying effects.

Make styling and dimensions explicit

Inspect the root width, height and viewBox and look for transforms that move artwork outside the visible area. An importer may not support the full browser CSS cascade. Where its documentation requires it, use explicit supported fill or stroke attributes on the relevant objects. Saving as Plain SVG is not a guarantee that every style is inlined or that every effect becomes a cuttable path.

Reopen the exported file in the destination

Compare a known dimension and the number of expected contours. DXF Medic works with supported SVG geometry, not arbitrary rendered browser artwork, and cannot recreate missing bitmap outlines or unsupported effects by assumption. Read any skipped-element or import diagnostics, repair the source file, then check the resulting cut or fill preview. If the artwork is purely raster, choose an appropriate tracing workflow and review the traced geometry separately.
